1/31/15 Transmission Removal

Took about two hours tonight going at it solo but was able to remove the original FMX transmission without any problems.  Started out by cutting part of the exhaust out.  Then jacked it up to a good height.  (as high as my stands would go)  Removed all bellhousing to engine bolts and transmission crossmember bolts.  Supported it with my jack and then removed the 4 flywheel to torque converter bolts.  Took a little effort but finally broke it loose.  From the looks of it, it probably hadn't been removed since I put it in.  The guy who sold it back to me said it had been changed over to a C-6.  After I got it home I looked under the car and knew it was an FMX.
Relatively painless drop of the tranny

Slid out and not looking too bad.
Top of FMX where it bolts to bellhousing

After cleaning off the paint and debris, low and behold the last four of my cars VIN stamped into it.  I remember seeing this when I first worked on the car 25 years ago.  Was happy to see it still was the same original gearbox!

Removed Bellhousing.  I will be upgrading to a 5 Sp manual but since this is original to the car I will be keeping it in storage.

Some of the parts removed tonight
