2/1/15 - Engine Removal

The prework and post work was the most exhausting thing today!  Engine removal took all of 10 minutes.  Setting up the car, hoist and then cleanup and putting away everything took half a day!  Overall very productive.  Although I find out I had a bad head gasket which caused some corrosion in the cylinder on the driver side.  Hopefully its not too bad.

Car angled in garage to make room for hoist

Hoist hooked up

Only had 4 motor mount bolts to remove

On the way out!

Set up on stand

Intake removed.  Seeing some nastiness on the drivers side.

Not what I wanted to see

Looks like we had a head gasket or intake leak.  Pretty nasty in there.  Luckily I plan on using aluminum heads but hopefully the cylinder isn't too bad.

Yech!  Not exactly what I was hoping for.  It cleaned up OK but there is some minor corrosion in a couple of the cylinders.  I was wanting to do a 393 stroker.  Block is already .30 over.  May have to go .40 over.

Passenger side MUCH better.

All four are gorgeous.  Wish the drivers side looked this good!

Drivers head.

Passenger head

gonna see what the bottom end looks like

Original motor to the car.

Looking real good here

No complaints.  Hopefully those cylinders walls clean up nicely.  Rest of block is solid.

Top side all cleaned up ready for storage.

Looking a little bare here.  More work to be done!

Hardest part of the day!  rotating plywood so I can roll this to the shed!

Needed a little help getting it up the ramp!
